Recognize and understand the dynamics of child sex trafficking from a single system response to a full multidisciplinary team (MDT) response by focusing on the fundamentals of exploitation.
The deadline to register is Friday, February 15, 2019.
This one day training will focus on the interaction between CPS, law enforcement, prosecution, and medical MDT team members, all of which are critical for a successful system response on behalf of the victim, and the successful prosecution of the offender.

Understanding the Dynamics of Child Sex Trafficking
This module will provide attendees with a working knowledge of Child Sex Trafficking (CST) and provide insight into the similarities and differences between a traditional child abuse victim and a CST victim. Victim selection, recruitment and control dynamics by the trafficker (pimp) will be discussed, as well as how CST is often undetected and under investigated.

Identification and Recovery of CST Victims
Attendees will be shown how to find CST victims who often are already in the system and have had numerous system contacts. From the system’s first responder to the medical and mental health professional, information will be provided to assist in identifying and recovering CST victims. The commonalities between repeat victims of sexual abuse, chronic runaways, and victims of CST will be discussed as they pertain to identifying victims.

Technology in CST Cases
Attendees will be presented with the role of technology in the crime of CST and how technology is used to recruit, market, control, and exploit the child. Participants will learn how technology may be used to build the case against the trafficker. Case examples will be utilized to illustrate learning objectives.

Developing a Community Partnership
Through an interactive case study, participants will determine strengths and resources within their own community and ways to leverage those resources through partnerships for the protection of the child victim and the aggressive pursuit of the exploiters. How to engage the community and develop a plan will be discussed. A continuum of resources, along with a continuum of available training to fully engage those resources will be provided to assist participants in developing an effective informal or formal MDT depending on their community resources.
