MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR, BRAD RUSS
I am proud to lead the nation’s largest provider of child protection training, as well as the most talented and experienced team of subject matter experts, thought leaders, and staff members committed to protecting communities across a broad array of issues. We have both the resources and subject matter expertise to provide the training and technical assistance necessary to help you develop effective response to the challenges facing your organization and your community or jurisdiction.
As a criminal justice professional myself, I have had many opportunities to participate in training, train others, and now, direct and support national training programs at NCJTC. I attended my first national training program sponsored by the Department of Justice in 1983 as a new sergeant responsible for supervising the Portsmouth Police Departments Juvenile Services Division. In 2003, I retired as the Chief of Police for the Portsmouth, NH Police Department after serving 25 years to take responsibility for managing NCJTC’s Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Training and Technical Assistance Program. I was fortunate enough to be invited to serve as an instructor for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention(OJJDP) and have travelled the nation for over 30 years conducting training and listening to the needs of the criminal justice community. During that time, I was asked to assume responsibility for all federal, state, and local agencies to advocate for increased funding to support training and technical assistance solutions to meet our country’s most urgent criminal justice needs. I am extremely committed to this and have made it NCJTC’s mission for service since I became director in 2008.
I invite you to learn more about what NCJTC can do for you. On behalf of the dedicated members of our NCJTC team, I would like to thank you for all you do to promote and preserve public safety in your community.
