Courtney worked several years as a forensic technician before becoming a sworn law enforcement officer. Courtney has a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science and a Master of Science in Digital Forensics from the University of Central Florida. She is a certified crime scene investigator through the International Association of Identification. Courtney has years of experience as the lead crime scene investigator in suicides, overdoses, drownings, homicides, kidnappings, and officer involved shootings. She has knowledge and experience in the laboratory disciplines of forensics including development of latent fingerprints, pre-screening of biological samples, and imaging of ballistic evidence. Courtney brings a unique point of view to the team as she has investigated death from the perspective of the first responding deputy on scene, lead crime scene investigator, and as a forensic detective.

James retired from the Milwaukee Police Department after 25 years of service. The first 7 years were spent in the Patrol Division as a police officer, working primarily on the north side of Milwaukee. James was promoted to Detective in 2002. After three years of investigating a wide variety of felonies, James was chosen to work in the Homicide Unit, where he is still assigned today. Along with his work on the Homicide Unit, James has been actively involved with training members of the Milwaukee Police Department, specifically in the areas of: Major Crime Scene Investigations, Death Investigations, Interviewing of Victims and Witnesses, Use of Polygraph in Criminal Investigations, and Interrogations.

Jim Holmes has been a certified law enforcement officer in Wisconsin since 1995. He has served with Dane County Sheriff's Department as a sheriff's aide and a patrol officer with the Fitchburg Police Department before obtaining a position as a special agent with the Wisconsin Department of Justice/Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in 1996. Jim was assigned to DCI's White Collar Crimes Bureau for four years, while also being assigned to DCI’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit from 1998-2001. Jim joined DCI’s Major Crimes Unit in 2000 where he has been involved in numerous adult and child homicide and equivocal death investigations, officer involved death investigations, murder-for-hire cases, missing and abducted children cases, child sexual exploitation, and child abuse and neglect cases. In his assignment to DCI’s Major Crimes Unit, Jim has continuously been assigned and has worked several cold case homicide investigations.
