Join us for a two-day training to examine victim-centered community corrections responses that address offender risk to re-offend, reduce the incidence of re-victimization and when possible, heal the harm caused by the criminal conduct. During the training, you will: 1) Learn how to systematically create and sustain a trauma informed approach that supports victims and holds offenders accountable 2) Explore contemporary offender management practices 3) Review findings from a series of listening sessions with professional communities on promising practices, barriers and challenges in implementing victim-centered practices 4) Review roadmaps to improving systems and practices of agencies/professionals who have a role in serving victims and offenders.
***This event has been postponed and will be rescheduled.*** **This event is approved by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.** This two-day regional training is designed to provide Office on Violence Against Women Improving Criminal Justice Responses Program and STOP grantees and their partner agencies/professionals with state-of-the-art training in evidence-based and best practices supporting a victim-centered approach to corrections. Each regional session will provide participants information on creating and enhancing a coordinated systems response based on the research supported practices in the field. Key training topics include risk management, assessment, and case planning with a victim-centered focus on victim safety and harm reduction.
Upon completion of this training, you will be able to: * Describe evidence-based practices in corrections * Explain key elements of effective case planning * Identify harm reduction and offender accountability strategies * Apply trauma informed approaches to your work in the field * List ways to improve systems and responses through victim-centered approaches
