This course is designed to develop a select group of instructors to provide missing child investigation training in Indian Country. You will learn best practices for responding to a missing or abducted child report with the goal to enhance the probability of a quick recovery and lay the groundwork to support an extended investigation. You will also learn strategies, procedures, and nationally recognized best practices in executing the initial response to a report of a missing or abducted child, investigative case management, performing an area search, roadblock canvass and neighborhood investigation, expanding a missing child investigation, and providing culturally appropriate victim support services. Particular attention will be made to understanding the resources and tools currently available to assist in a missing child investigation. Upon completion of this course, all participants will have full access to all training materials.

Upon completion of this training, you will: * Learn about the AMBER Alert program and how it can be used to support your investigation * Understand how to effectively plan and respond to a missing or abducted child in a tribal community * Possess the requisite skills to investigate and manage a complex missing or abducted child investigation * Understand how to identify and introduce victim support services and resources in support of your investigation * Obtain full access to training materials available to provide quality instruction to your agency on missing and abducted child investigations
