During the conference, we will dive into the data and information internet-based devices create/record which can indicate a person’s proximity to a crime and establish relationships between victims and suspects. Industry trends, techniques and emerging opportunities that internet-based technologies present for criminal justice officials will be discussed. In order for communities to support law enforcement’s use of these technologies, they must be accessed in a legally and ethical manner. Current case law and best practices will be discussed by experts in the field. Specialized training tracks will be offered in the areas of home monitoring and security devices, smart wearables, tracking devices and vehicle data systems. Other internet-based devices will be considered as well.

James is a Florida Department of Law Enforcement certified instructor; his experience led him to develop training for controlled calls work that he regularly presents both internally and externally. Thomas Nash received a master's degree in Education from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University.

Additionally, he served as an investigator with the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force (ICAC) and as a computer forensic examiner with the US Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force (CFTFs). Thomas Nash received a master's degree in Education from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University.
Trey Amick is a forensics investigator with a background in both law enforcement and corporate investigations. As a detective with the Rock Hill Police Department in South Carolina, Trey was sworn as a Special Deputy United States Marshal and supported the US Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force. Previously, he served in roles in both Patrol and Professional Standards. Most recently, as a corporate investigator, Trey managed the Enterprise Cyber Education and Awareness Team at Capital One, where he also served as part of the Cyber Technical Investigations Team. Trey is currently the Director, Forensic Consultants Team at Magnet Forensics, where he assists in the development of Magnet AXIOM and provides skilled support to customers with his combined knowledge of AXIOM and digital forensics. Trey is also the President of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), New York Metro Chapter.

He has spent the last thirty years between law enforcement and as a consultant supporting various agencies with incident response, computer forensics, and eDiscovery. Mr. Kruse, coauthor of “Computer Forensics: Incident Response Essentials”, is the past International President of the High Crime Investigative Association (HTCIA) and Past President of the Digital Forensics Certification Board (DFCB). In addition, he led a team of computer forensic experts in a three-year engagement in support of a fraud investigation task force at the world’s largest international cooperative organization. Recipient of the HTCIA “High Tech Case of the Year” award, Kruse was recognized for his forensic analysis conducted on a case surrounding theft of intellectual property and trade secrets on the billion dollar “Comtraid” matter; was a court appointed expert and testified as a computer forensic expert.
