This session explores the critical role Native youth play in preventing violence and promoting safety, healing, and respect. By uplifting their voices and investing in their leadership, we can foster environments where young people feel empowered to speak out, stand up for one another, and model the values of balance and wellbeing. This is webinar 10 of the **Supporting and Working with Men as Allies and Advocates to End Violence and Sexual Assault Against Women and Girls in Tribal Communities** Webinar Series. Participants will learn strategies for engaging Native youth as advocates for change, including the use of Indigenous teachings, peer leadership, creative expression, and community involvement. The session will highlight how youth-led initiatives can shift norms, inspire intergenerational learning, and strengthen community connections. By supporting Native youth in becoming confident, informed, and indigenously grounded leaders, we help build a safer, more resilient future for all.

Nigel Perrote   Independent Consultant

Nigel Perrote has 16 years of experience working with youth and young adults in a variety of capacities from direct service to program administration. His professional experiences primarily focused on youth and young adults experiencing homelessness, pregnant and parenting adolescents, public health (sexual health), youth development, sexual violence, and sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Nigel currently works at the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families as the American Indian Human Trafficking Program Specialist. In this role, he provides department direction in strategic planning and delivery of culturally appropriate services to meet the needs of American Indian and Alaskan Native youth at risk or who are being sex and/or labor trafficked. Nigel is an enrolled member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin and holds B.A in Psychology and Sociology – Law, Criminology, and Deviance, and an M.A. in Tribal Administration and Governance, both from the University of Minnesota.
