BJ Jones   Director of the Tribal Judicial Institute - University of North Dakota School of Law

BJ Jones is the Director of the Tribal Judicial Institute at the University Of North Dakota School Of Law where he also teaches Indian law and social justice courses as an Adjunct. The Institute has been providing technical assistance to Indian tribes and their justice systems since 1993. He is also the Chief Judge for the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, and also serves as the Chief Judge for the Prairie Island Indian Community and an Associate Judge for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara Tribes in North Dakota as well as a Justice on the Oglala Sioux, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal Courts of Appeals. Judge Jones is a former legal services attorney on the Rosebud and Standing Rock reservations and is a 1984 graduate of the University of Virginia School Of Law. He was formerly the Domestic Violence Integrated Court Judge for the MHA Nation on the Fort Berthold reservation.
