Courtney is currently a Special Agent-Senior with the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation assigned to the arson bureau, serving as a Deputy State Fire Marshal. Courtney has earned various fire investigation designations, to include the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) – Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) – Fire Investigation Technician (FIT), IAAI – Evidence Collection Technician (ECT), and Wisconsin Fire Investigator. Courtney also has experience in fire and emergency medical services, holding certifications as a Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Fire Officer I, and Emergency Services Instructor I. Courtney also holds an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) license. During her law enforcement career, Courtney has been involved in numerous adult and child fire death investigations, as well as many other death investigations not involving fire.

Michael spent approximately 33 years assigned to the investigation of Fires & Explosions. Mikes last position included the supervision of several troopers investigating Fires & Explosions in the four western counties of the Commonwealth. Mike has investigated over 2,000 fires, both accidental and incendiary. He is a Certified Fire Investigator, through the International Association of Arson Investigators, IAAI. He is past president, (three terms), of the Massachusetts Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators. Currently Mike is the Chair of the CFI Committee as well as the Chair of the Seminar Committee for the Board of Directors. From 1990 to 2008 Mike was a certified accelerant detection K-9 handler. He along with his two AK-9’s, “Glenda” and” Milo”, had been certified by the Maine Criminal Justice Training Counsel, The Connecticut State Police, The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and CADA.
