The passage of the 2006 Adam Walsh Act (SORNA) included a requirement to register juveniles who have been adjudicated for a sexual offense for the first time, although many states were already registering juveniles prior to SORNA’s passage. Join us to discuss the requirements of SORNA for registering juveniles including the changes that have been made through the Department of Justice’s Supplemental Guidelines. As jurisdictions decide whether to register and provide community notification on juveniles, information related to juveniles who have committed sexual offenses may be helpful. During this webinar, you will learn the differences between juveniles and adults who commit sexual offenses, including characteristics, recidivism, and responsiveness to treatment. Gain key knowledge about the juvenile population in order to make critical decisions in how to implement juvenile registration including information on how other jurisdictions have wrestled with this issue.
