Brian began his investigative career in the Central District Tactical Unit of the Chicago Police Department where he was assigned to the street crimes unit working covertly in narcotics and prostitution enforcement as well as crime patterns involving rape, armed and strong-armed robbery, burglary, pickpockets and auto theft. Brian was promoted to the rank of detective after five years of the tactical assignment and immediately assigned to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which was a covert unit formed after the discovery of thirty-three children who were murdered by John Wayne Gacy. This unit, which developed into a local, state and federal affiliated team, targeted those who sexually exploited children through child pornography, juvenile pimping and pandering (human trafficking) and molestation. The unit also focused on those selling narcotics to children.
