Courthouses serve as the center of many government, legal, and community activities. They can also be vulnerable to threats of violence for all who use them. Join us to learn effective strategies and best practices to enhance a collaborative courthouse security philosophy. Gather tools and resources from current state and federal court services experts related to security planning, jury and witness safety considerations, and threat assessment and management. Presenters include experts in the areas law enforcement, state and federal attorneys, judges and other court services professionals.

Bryan Kastelic is a Special Agent (S/A) with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation (WI DOJ DCI) and is assigned as the Task Force Commander of the Native American Drug & Gang Initiative (NADGI). S/A Kastelic has served with WI DOJ DCI for the past seven years during which time he was also assigned to the Milwaukee High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area / DEA Task Force 63. S/A Kastelic is a Team Leader on the DCI Tactical Team and instructor on firearms, defense and arrest tactics, less lethal and Taser systems. Prior to DCI, S/A Kastelic served 10 years with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department as a Narcotics Investigator, Emergency Response Unit member, patrol officer and, Unified Tactical Instructor. S/A Kastelic served 10 years in the United States Army (Infantry & WI Drug Control Program Intelligence Analyst) (Active & WI National Guard).

She was employed by Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department in Richmond, Virginia for eleven years before joining the City of Madison Police Department. During that time, she was assigned to patrol services and was selected to be part of a special operations unit focusing on narcotics and high risk search warrants. She was an Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, Taser Instructor, and Patrol Tactics Instructor. After joining the City of Madison Police Department, she was assigned to Patrol Services before being promoted to Detective. Currently, she is assigned to the Violent Crime Unit, which focuses on homicides, attempted homicides, weapon related offenses, pattern robberies, and kidnapping. Detective Fahrenbruch is currently a member of the Special Events Team (SET), whose primary objective is crowd management and control.

KDOG received three annual state awards during his four years of service until promoting to Lieutenant. Lt. Staples served twenty years on the Kenosha Sheriff’s Tactical Response Team (i.e., SWAT) in the role of Assistant Commander and retired at the rank of Executive Officer.
