Prior to his current role as Detective with the Indiana County District Attorney, Matthew Powell was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police from 1996-2022 and was assigned to the Computer Crime Unit for most of his tenure there. He was responsible for providing computer-based forensics to local, state, and federal law enforcement entities, as well as, conducting proactive and reactive computer and internet-based investigations. He is a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), and AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE) and has served in numerous roles throughout his career including Criminal Investigation Unit Supervisor, Patrol Unit Supervisor, Deputy Fire Marshal in the Criminal Investigation Section, and a Communications Specialist. Matt has been an instructor for the National Criminal Justice Training Center of Fox Valley Technical College since 2006.

Prior to retiring from law enforcement in August 2020, Detective Wayne Nichols worked for the Henderson Police Department in Nevada. During his tenure, he worked ICAC related investigations to include proactive enticement cases, P2P investigations, as well as being a forensic examiner. In his last 5 years as a detective, he exclusively investigated robberies and homicides. Since 2013, Wayne Nichols has consulted for Fox Valley Technical College, where he continues to teach other law enforcement investigators how to investigate the online exploitation of children. Wayne Nichols holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice.
