Examine the psychological and behavioral aspects of threat assessment and management. Gain understanding in normal versus abnormal child and adolescent behaviors, identifying red-flags, why threats are made, and how threats can be managed along a pathway toward violence (both short and long-term) to ensure personnel safety. Review common problems in school threat assessment and propose solutions. Learn multidisciplinary threat assessment and management strategies and explore empirically based youth-violence risk and protective factors. Review assessment tools for use in the school system. Participate in simulated threat assessments and management with followup discussion (hotwash).

Dr. Amy James is a clinical and forensic psychologist specializing in answering psychological questions within a legal context. Dr. James provides forensic mental health evaluations, direct and cross-examination consultation, trial/hearing consultation to attorneys, and testimony preparation practice to mental health professionals. Dr. James' evaluation services are objective and data-driven, ensuring the evaluation is the same, regardless of retaining party. Her primary areas of practice include assessment in the course of criminal proceedings, juvenile matters, and civil (family and juvenile) court. Dr. James is an Air Force Veteran (psychologist) and, in addition to clinical and forensic psychological services, has extensive experience in program development, project management, leadership, and executive consultation.
